Hello,
I am about to graduate from Law in a top university in Brazil with a grade of 8.67/10, which I converted on Scholaro to a 3.385 GPA.
In addition to that, on my 5th semester of Law (out of 10) I decided to enroll in a bachelor of Computer Science, distance learning format, due to a research project I was a part of that focused on digital law in partnership with the CS department at my university.
Since my Law school is federal, I was not allowed to pursue a double degree. In my city, there weren't any other CS programs, which made me choose a distance learning option (only one available was for a low-ranking university). Although, I did 60 credits (equivalent to 1 year) at a renowed Finnish university (also distance learning).
Anyway, now to the point.
Even though I pursued a degree in CS, I spent 3 years as an intern in tax and business law, and will be hired as a tax lawyer upon graduating.
I'm still deciding if I should pursue a tax LLM or tech law LLM. The analytical skills I gained from CS helped greatly, and although I don't use coding to work, I do have coding projects and a portfolio which I built over the year, including a project involving analysing decisions from the high courts of Brazil using data analysis.
Besides that, I participated as a law consultant for businesses in a university project, and was the financial coordinator of said project.
I am very close with my tax law professor, as I was his intern for 6 months, so I can get a good LOR from him.
I speak 3 languages, Portuguese, English and German.
Would I have a shot?
What are some other good highly regarded univeristies I can apply to with my situation and a GPA of less than 3.4?
Thank you!
Chances of being accepted into an LLM program at Georgetown with a mid GPA.
