applying for training contracts !!!!

Hi, can some one educate me about the process that must be followed in order to attain a training contract with law firms in England? I am a recent Political Science graduate from a Canadian university, and have two pending GDL offers from BPP and College for law. I am due to start the program in sep 2009, if i do take up the GDL offer. But i heard that students usually apply for training contracts two years in advance, is that true, am i too late, what is the application procedure?
Please advise!
cheers.

It's true that undergraduate law students normally apply for training contracts in their second year of university, two years in advance.

But you're also free to apply later, and as a graduate. You can apply during or after the GDL. Some firms may even reimburse you for your course fees. Just look at the websites of the firms that you're interested in for their application procedures.
