In a few months I will travel to London to study my LLM, so I am currently checking the fares of different airlines to buy my air ticket. However, I noted that airlines only allow you to stay for a maximum period of 12 months, so you must take your flight back before this period as otherwise you will lose your ticket...
Therefore I called air france to ask about this, since I will be in London for more than a year, and they mentioned that the best I could do is to just buy another ticket (both ways) to return after 12 months, as buying the outbound and return trip separately will be more expensive...
This clearly does not make any sense for me, so I created this thread to see if anyone knows what can I do with this. Any comments will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Dear all,
I finally bought a one-way-ticket to London. I could not find an airline that allowed me to return after twelve months, but I did find some airlines that have reasonable prices for one way tickets (e.g. Delta).
Best regards
