Ok, so I am interested in studying for a LLM in international law right after I graduate law school.

I have a decent, but not outstanding, GPA of 3.35 at an American law school (in comparison, my undergraduate GPA was a 3.86 at an ivy league university). I am in moot court honor society, our Jessup int'l moot court team, and law review. I am currently interning for a state judge this summer, and I will be interning with a federal court judge through the next academic year, starting in September.

Anyways, to make a long story short, I'm interested in International Trade and Business Law, and as such, I want to specialize my law studies with an LLM. My adviser told me to look into programs at Columbia, NYU and Georgetown for international law LLMs, but I'm not sure I have a shot for any program of that caliber.

Can anyone offer any insight into whether I stand a chance of getting into a top LLM program? Also, is there anything I can do in advance to prepare for applying or that would make me a more competitive candidate? Finally, I am considering studying for my LLM abroad in England, but I don't know much about the benefits of studying LLMs abroad . . . Any thoughts on where to study international trade?

Any advice would be welcome! :)
