Hello,I am Utaori.
I would like to study Humanitarian Law and International Criminal Law.
I was admitted by Utrecht University "LLM in Law of International Human Rights and Criminal Justice" and
also "Geneva academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights." I have to decide which to go by the end of this month... Which university has better reputation in Humanitarian Law and Criminal Law?
I am both interested in the ICRC and ICC and wish to seek an internship opportunity.
Utrecht or Geneva academy?

Hi Maia. Thank you very much for your kind advice. It was very helpful. Are you going to the ADH this year? I'm also attracted by the interesting curriculum and great faculties which the academy offers. But since my research interest is aboout ICC and International Humanitarian Law,the Utrecht's connection to the ICC also seems to be valuable.
Actually, the situation is a little complicatedEEEI will be able to get $24000 scholarship if I choose Utrecht. If I wish to go to the ADH with this scholarship, I need to pass the French language exam. Although I will try it this month, It will be diffucult because my French ability is poor.
Since it is not mentioned on the website,I wonder if we would not need to write a masters thesis to graduate ADH. Do you know whether we need to write it or not?
It seems to be fun if we could meet at ADH.My email address is "sole.fiore.bambino@gmail.com"
Thank you so much!

Hello,
I am Ana and I am so glad to finally find someone on this forum going to ADH. I am also in, and I was wondering what are your thoughts about the possible accommodation in Geneva. Are you planning to apply for one through the University or would prefer renting a flat? From what I`ve seen on the website the accommodation they offer is pretty bad but rather expensive. Furthermore the fact that I do not speak French is making things even worse, cause I have no clue about other options offered on the web.
I would really appreciate if you could drop a few lines and I sincerely congratulate to both of you for getting in.
Hope to see you in September.

Hi Maia21,
I am from Belgrade (Serbia). What about you?
I read that you also got a full scholarship so let`s pray that those 1500 per month will be enough for a decent accommodation. I just spoke on the phone with a friend of a friend and she told me that I should start looking for a flat asap. Her advice was to find someone and share a flat at least for first couple of months since accommodation is extremely expensive. Even in case of sharing a flat you need around 1000 EUR (1500CHF) per month. I am shocked and I really do not know what to do. I do not mind if the place is not that close to the Uni, as long it is clean and decent. I will see this girl soon and try to find out more, so I can share my knowledge with you.
Did you register at the University? I hate all this French forms and websites cause I do not understand a thing.
Anyway, let`s stay in touch and hopefully have coffee in Geneva.
Regards
Ana

Hi Maia,
I have a question for you regarding the registration process. Are we only supposed to fill in that form in English and collect supporting documents (high school certificates and university diploma translated etc.) or I am missing something? I am completely paranoid and the fact that everything is in French makes things even worse.
By the way, I saw photos of the Chemin Vert residence and it looks cool. Maybe there is still a chance for us to find a decent students dorm.
What do you say about communicating directly? My mail address is anacivortep@yahoo.com so you could drop me a line.
Thanx Maia and good luck to you too.

Utrecht's LL.M. in international law of human rights and criminal justice provides an excellent academic opportunity coupled with proximity and professional connections to The Hague, as well as to Geneva. In these topics, Utrecht's faculty is certainly among the most preeminent in the world. It's IHL faculty director is superb, and it's ICL programme is top-notch. The Geneva Academy is also great, yet it covers a significantly more circumscribed body of law, whereas Utrecht is broader in these fields. It bears emphasis that Utrecht is only 30 minutes from The Hague, and that many, many internship and professional opportunities are available immediately to LL.M. candidates.

Hi guys,
I intend to apply to ADH and I have lots of doubts! i.e., the masters of advanced in humanitarian international law is taugh in English and French. Did you have to prove proficiency in both languages?
I'll post here my e-mail in case you preffer answering by mail, erica.rleite@gmail.com , I'd be very glad to exchange information about that course.
