University of Cergy-Pontoise?

Toogie

I was wondering if anyone could comment on the reputation of L'Universite de Cergy-Pontoise?

I'd be doing a joint J.D/DESS-DJCE with Vermont Law (in the U.S) and Cergy in 4 years. I'd like to know the job prospects and reputation of the school before I decide to enroll in the program. Thanks.

Hi Toogie,

I am currently a junior lecturer in European Law at Cergy-Pontoise (west of Paris).

It is a "new" university which has a strong reputation in Sciences and Law - especially public law and International Law, with great exchange programmes with the UK and the US.

Cool. So what do you think of it so far? Do you think a DESS-DJCE will be competitive in the French market over there? I am an American btw so I don't know what the hiring prospects are for foreigners.

I'd prefer to work for an American firm in Paris and I was browing some BigLaw websites for lawyers who are graduates of the school and I came upon about 2-3 in each BigLaw firm.

It is a very good choice : if you feel like staying in Paris, you will have the advantage of i) knowing French Law and ii) being bilingual in English.

Thanks for the great advice, do you know of any graduates working at big firms in Paris?
