Hi,
I have recently been looking at the LLM course on Public international law in leiden. It looks really good!
I have already applied to several places in the uk- is it too late for me to apply to leiden, and how does it compare there to life in oxford/ london?
I had a few questions:
ie- what is stdent life there like?
- how does it compare (in terms of standard( with ucl, kcl, soas, queen mary etc?)
and does anyone know how it would compare to say, uct, cape town and/ or sydney?
- also, is it now too late to apply for funding?
thank you so much!
too late?

Well first of all, from what I hear student life in leiden is realy good, although since you are interested in studying international law you will not have so much time for parties. However, when this is the case, Leiden is the ideal place. I have been to Leiden myself and I realy enjoyed it. Second Leiden University is first or second I think in the national nevel and the 16th in the european level. Furthermore, I think that not just Leiden, but Netherlands as a whole is the best place to study international law due to the international setting of the universities. In the Netherlands you will find many international organizations (ICJ, ICTY etc). Also many dutch scholars have offered a lot in the development of international law. I don't think that you can compare the dutch universities with the ones in UK. And don't forget that UK is an industry of degrees...if you know what I mean. Moreover, the tuition fees in the Netherlands are less than in UK. If you are an EU national then at the end of your studies you get back almost 800euros from the dutch government. So having in mind that the tuition fees are around 1600euros, at the end of your studies you will have paid actually only 800 euros. If you are not a citizen of EU then you can apply in nuffic for a scholarship www.nuffic.nl. Also check the site of Leiden. There you can find numberous scholarships, most of them for non-eu citizens. Hope that I was a little bit helpful. I wish you good luck.
