LLM in Tax Law 2025

Hi,

What are your thoughts on doing a LLM in Tax Law? Which universities you prefer and for what reasons?

I am seriously considering MSc in Taxation at Oxford because its part time. However, I would like to hear other opinions on this.

Tax is a great area in which to do an LLM.

I have no particular knowledge of Oxford’s MSc, but I imagine it’s a good one (it’s Oxford). Other good tax programmes include KCL, QMUL, and LSE in the UK. Across the pond, NYU, Georgetown, Florida, and NU are highly thought of too. It all depends on your goals and particular circumstances. Apart from the obvious jurisdictional differences and the accompanying domestic law you will study, the type of tax you want to do may also factor into things. International tax, for example, may be better at one university, whereas domestic tax and/or subnational tax (like SALT) may be better at another.
