Damn... Perhaps I should hurry up with my Applications :/

You have a while yet. I applied in September and didn't get a reply until late November. I was told this is because they were busy with the February intake, and those wishing to start in September '07 were put aside until the February applications were looked at. I assume this is not longer the case, and you could expect a response in about 3-4 weeks. You're also well advised to call the Law Faculty contact (on your application receipt letter) after this time, because an answer might be ready and they simply haven't sent it back to the International Office yet. (This is what happened in my case.)

As for Leiden's reputation, I have only heard good things thus far. Two qualified international lawyers I know tell me it's a good choice (and they know people who teach there) and two Dutchmen tell me it's the best uni in the Netherlands and one of the top in Europe.

As for rankings, which I don't particularly trust, it comes in quite high. The "famous" Jiao Tong University (Shanghai) World University ranking puts Leiden in the top 100 world-wide (nr. 72 to be exact) and 22nd in Europe (including the UK and Russia).

It is also a member of a number of research leagues that bring together Europe's top schools. Europaeum, of which they are a member, has Europe's top 10 best universities (including Oxford, Bologna and Panthéon-Sorbonne).

Everything I can find, at least, points to it being a good place to study law. It is also 10 minutes away from The Hague -- which might open some interesting networking possibilities.

And to top it all off, Albert Einstein taught at Leiden.

Well, I did hurry up with my applications and got admitted to Leiden as well. Also, I've got a positive answer from Amsterdam, still waiting for replies from Utrecht and Rotterdam (which, according to my sixth sense, will be positive as well).

Leiden staff is very impressive (Dugard, Blokker, etc), location is convenient (15 minutes from Hague, 30 from Amsterdam), and the town itself is very nice (at least from pictures :)).

Ahh, I say let's all go to Leiden.

I am from Lithuania by the way. It will be good to see people from all over the world in one place next year :)

I met kris1984 on this forum also (if you're reading this Chris, write me, you big snob) and he's a cheeky Italian-Canadian who wants someone to hold his hand when he gets off the plane at Amsterdam because he is scared - maybe you could do that for him?? ;) hahaha

Ahh, those Italians. Already grabbing female hands at the airport.

Well, I'm definitely not scared coming to Leiden. It will be loads of studying, and ever more fun (I hope).

You guys made up your mind about housing?

Yeah, but I mean - which location and what kind of room did you choose?

I've graduated from Mykolas Romeris University in Lithuania, my alma mater. And yes, I am working at the moment as an assistant to MP, in the Parliament of Lithuania.

What about you?

I was not asked to specify a room or a location - I should probably write them an email about it, I do want to choose a good one! ;) Have you chosen yet?
Your job sounds impressive. I'm currently working as a prosecutor in Melbourne (graduated Uni of Melb) working for the government obviously. It's a very interesting and challenging job - criminal law opens up your eyes (and your mind)

My job is not even nearly as impressive as yours :)

And I've heard only good things about Australian universities, you guys always kick ass in Jessup, this year as well (Sydney university).

I still haven't made up my mind about housing, not really sure how much money I can spend on that :/

You are right, Uni of Melb is I think, currently ranked at No.22 in the World, and I must admit we do have very good rep. at the Jessup Moot!! The LLB at Melb is hard, it's hard to get really good marks! Sydney Law is excellent too. Our current PM studied there hehhe (but looks like he will lose the election later this year - we shall see) Anyway these would be the top 2 law schools in Australia for sure.
