True! Always a lame excuse to give.
They did ask me about my French and I told them I'm working on improving it. They then moved on to another question and that was it.
Do you think even before the interview?

Pity, Gerda, but there is always politics....
I think some contries have privilages over political reasons.. that's why they did not clarify the number of places..
well.. that's life - sometimes we lose sometimes we win...
last year, as far as I know, there were four places for Ukraine... for 80 applications...
at leas it was nice to be preselected
but nor more games with scholarship!

You will be OK, Gerda. I think I gess what country are you from - it's important for EU. Trist me

Wait, do you think if I were to ask them about my countries number of admissions, they would reveal it?
Then how come they accepted so many Italians?
Gerda, you mean that if you were to be admitted, you'll have a hard time obtaining the visa? Does it take too long to issue?

Guys,I am so dreadfully sorry for what is happening to you, and I am sure I am also speaking for all EU students admitted. YOU are the real value for the College of Europe, and to lose you is to lose so much, for all of us who could be enriched by studying, living and working with you. I still have hope that you can make it, and I hope that all this mess is not political calculus, but just bureaucratical dumbness!
Still crossing fingers for you guys.
A big hug.

But why do they admit so many Europeans? And non-ENP students? I mean, they already know about the EU and what goes on in Europe. And on top of that, some of them already have a BA or a Masters in European studies. Then why do they need to obtain yet another degree in such studies? And make us people with no masters and European knowledge on the reserve list. It's sounds like prejudice to me.
Posted Jul 13, 2011 01:57
Believe me,to me it sounds worse,it sounds IDIOTIC!
You are right,we already know so much!
Probably, more than politics it's money:our countries probably not only contribute with scholarships, they probably also fund the school in some way!Or maybe it's the fact that if it is funded with EU money,it's our taxes and countries want that money back,so to speak....I don't know, but it's still all silly to me.
The added value it's non-EU people:most of us already did Erasmus,we're ok with EU brotherhood/sisterhood, let's work with the rest of the world I say!
But sadly,I'm not in charge. If I was, believe me, the ratio would be SO much different than it is...
Ouf,c'est horrible!I was so looking forward to meet ENP students:my final dissertation was on ENPI CBC Med Programme, and I even worked for the programme Managing Authority for 5 months!I think that EU-Mediterranean partnership is the biggest priority for the EU now,and they should admit MORE ENP students, not less this year!
Why,why do they respond to current challenges like turtles??
I am so angry :(

You make a lot of sense. I understand better now. Sadly, I never did Erasmus. I've never been to Europe before. I thought this was my chance to learn something new. Oh well!
I agree! They should've admitted more ENP students, especially with what's going on in the middle east now. We would've benefited from learning about different policies and economies.
I have no idea! After they keep us waiting for a month and a half, they don't even have the curtsy or the decency to tell us that we're on the reserve list. What a huge slap in the face!

Well, and of course,it's awful that they took so long to answer!C'mon! You're right, it's courtesy, but it's also about your future!
Candy, what about other offers? You mentioned a british master,am I right?Or am I mistaken with another girl on this forum?
In that case, are you sure that you cannot resume that application? If I was you,I would ask to the College to write to that other british university to explain the situation...they owe you that at least!!!

Thanks! I'm glad you agree. Oh yeah, that's me. The problem is not with the British uni, it's with my local scholarship. I might've neglected pursuing it in light of waiting for an answer from COE. You're right, I should tell them. I'll call them tomorrow just to clarify things. I hope I'll be able to keep my calm.
Posted Jul 13, 2011 02:28
Yes,please do it, they MUST understand that it's not your fault!Make the CoE talk to them if necessary, but don't give up!In any case it's true, you will feel better doing it because it's always better to know that we have done all we could do to change our situation!
Good luck Candy, I'm rooting for you, and I am sure everything will go your way: nobody in its right mind lets go a remarkable mind and soul as yours!Don't give up!

I WILL! I'm a determined person. Don't worry! :D Nobody messes with my future and goes unpunished.
Aw, you're too kind. I'll let you know what happens. I'm glad we talked this out. You really made me feel so much better.

Dear mates!
thanks for you clarifying so many things on what's related to application proceedings at the college. I think all this delay and has to do with the financial crisis in greece and portugal, and am afraid they will cut back the number of scholarships devoted for ENP students.
what s realy getting me so upset is that it takes too long for them to give us a final decision that they r gonna waist us a whole academic year time!!!
as to me, I have been made 5 Master offers (2 frm British univ, and 3 frm Netherlands univ) costing 22000 euro each usualy they offer ENP scholarships but this year when I inquired about this they relplied there s no ENP scholarships this year cos of what s happening in Greece, so that s what kept me hoping for a place at the College is the scholarship rather than elsewhere.
I am too much confused and wondering what to do now. so I wd be very pleased if smebody has an idea and inform me on how to get at least a loan as to my offers at british or netherlands univ.
hoping for all dear ENP collegues all the best!!

I'm not sure it's possible to get loan being a non-EU resident (you are talking about European bank?)
And are you pretty sure you will be able to give it back?
I'm not so much poor... but.. unlike in the U.S., in EU it's very difficult to find job during the studing in order to keep youself on the feet.. and as for loan.. to get good job in the EU area, over the crises again, it's very difficult..
But I understand you.. I reject offer from Maastricht as far as they were not able to provide scholarship...

If you do not have enough to cover all your costs (including studying and living) you'd better look at the U.S.... it's not difficult to be enrolled, it's possible to take laon and there are plenty of job there (not in office). In Europe it would be very, very difficult, almost impossible. As far as I'm aware..
My case is different.. I'm in career crises and looking for new opportuinities..
But with CoE I'm very sad... stupid situation.. half of the year waisted.. we should wright them about our concern..

Dear nadia,
thanks for ur support, and I agree with u to write them about our waisted time, at least they set us a deadline for this stuff of reserve list and how much we have a chance to succed.
thank u for ur suggestion , I ll see if there s any chance to find some relevent applications open. otherwise I shd apply to one of the french universities as studies over there are almost for free.
which programme u applied to nadia?
