In the new FT global ranking of Executive Business Schools, WHU has been ranked 13th in the overall ranking for its Kellogg-WHU EMBA. WHU is one of only three German Business Schools, which made it in the top 100. As Bucerius is considered a top school as well, I think the teaching quality in the Bucerius/WHU program should be excellent. Bucerius has recently been ranked number one in a ranking of German law schools by the magazine "karriere" (http://www.vhb.de/psvhb/fn/vhb/SH/0/sfn/bp/cn/art/p1/5/p2/18/strucid/220/es/es/index.html).
The only drawback I see is that the degree Master of Law and Business ("MLB") is probably not (yet) known to most employers. It's not a Master of Laws, not a Master of Law and Economics either, nor an MBA. Empresa and Northwestern University offer a similar program with both courses in law and business (http://www.executive-llm.ie.edu/), but there you get an LLM. So that is something for Bucerius/WHU to think about, whether they shouldn't try to achieve formal approval to award an LL.M. (with a certificate in business?) or even an MBA (with a concentration/certificate in law).

That's an interesting analysis. I would really like to know what employers think about the "MBL". I would think the name of the degree is not as important as the name of the institutions "Bucerius" and "WHU", which surely have a good reputation in Europe.

Currently I am a student of Bucerius/WHU Master of Law and Business (MLB), so I would like to share some my experience with you.
Until now I do feel it is a really fascinating program. Not only the MLB Professors, who teach in both the legal and economic fields, are really great and responsible, but also we have chance to discuss and exchange our ideas with these professors in detail during the class and after class. Other noncredit courses and seminars are offered regularly: professional legal English, economic/legal seminars and German courses. Furthermore, every month we will discuss with the dean of MLB about problems and suggestions.
It is little bit out of my expectation concerning about program organization and course arrangement. Since we are the first generation of MLB, I thought it would be a little bit messy in the beginning. However it turned to be well planned and organized
Yes, I am also expecting our degree and our performance to get recognized from our future career.

Hi Forest, could you tell us what are the backgrounds of the students participating in the programme? How many students are currently enrolled? Russ

Almost half of my classmates are from legal background, and half from business background.

Hi, Guys,
Congrats Fialdini.
Mr.Forest, how is your programe going on ? What about afte program placements ?
I have recently came to know about the MLB program and get interested. I forwarded my application just 7 days back.
Would you please tell me whether they consider the applications received after 31st March, 07 ? By mistake I have not enclosed the finances form to my application. Whether they consider my application without finances form or they keep it pending till I send finances form? Can I send the finances form now?
Sorry. for all these questions. Please try to clarify to the extent you can. Thanks.

HI, Forest, it seems you are little bit busy with your studies. Actually I expected your reply to my earlier post. Any how, good news is that I got an admission offer for MLB program. I would like to confirm my admiision by paying tuition deposit.
I would like to know about job prospects after the program. I need this information inorder to convince my family.
Can u give me an idea of what type of job assistance will be provided by Bucerius for MLB candidates. Will it take the help of its international Employers/Companies who are now participating in their LLB rectruitments in providing their Job assistance to MLB candidates.
By now, you people might have completed your internships. How do you feel about internships? Have anybody, now studying MLB with you, already got any placement?
Please advise me on this issue. Thanks.
Bye, Mr.Chak

Dear Mr Crash
Im slightly confused by your comment. In South Africa, an LLM is equated with a master in law. So, am I to understand that the Master in law and business at Bucerius is NOT an LLM?

Right. According to their website, the degree awarded by Bucerius/WHU is called MLB (Master in Law and Business).
