HI all,
I'm going to be studying the LLM in European and International Business Law this year and was wondering what other people are planning to do about housing? I know there is some university housing but I've been told by an Erasmus student who's there at the moment that it can be more expensive than other rental accommodation.
Any advice would be really helpful,
Thanks

Yes, I'm in the same problem. I'm really looking to go for other options other than university housing, but since I am non-EU, housing is fundamental to my visa (I am in the Adv. LLM program) and no dutch rentals would rent so early in June for a rent starting from September.
So basically I am also stuck with university accomodation until someone could suggest otherwise for me.
Thanks!

You could go to www.kamernet.nl that is the most popular site to find rooms, also temporary. But you'd need somebody to translat though, it is in Dutch.

Hi! I am planning on heading out in July to try and find some accomodation. Also heard that the university rentals were overly expensive. Not exactly sure how to navigate kamernet!!

Yeah, I think I may end up doing the same thing- it seems pretty impossible to find accommodation on the internet if you don't speak Dutch. I have finals ending in mid-June so will probably head to Leiden soon after and will hopefully be able to report back with some useful leads for other people who are still searching

wouldn't it be an issue if you need to get an MVV? You need to provide them with a rental agreement to get the visa. I would tend to think it would be safer to do it through the Uni - especially if you need the MVV.

Yes, for those who need MVVs, it seems that the only bet (unless they have friends who can provide registered accommodation for them in holland) is university housing.

By fat the best option is to contact RooFs: www.stichtingroofs.nl. This is a student organization through which international students can contact Dutch students who are going to stud abroad and wish to sublet their rooms.
I'm from Leiden and I would VERY highly recommend doing this as the university housing is very expensive and if it ends being too popular, you might be placed in housing that is far from the city center. For the same price, its much nicer living with other students right in the middle of the city.
Also, May is not too early to find a room, as most students going abroad will have made their plans already. Good luck!
