Hi Elena,
I am from the U.S. and am pursuing the LLM External Program as well. My specialization is also human rights mostly concentrating in Africa. From all the research I have done the program looks top notch and the school to be superb.
Let me know if you need any more info or would be interested in talking more.

Hi Elena!
I received an offer letter from UoL for the distance learning programme today and will now enrol within the next couple of days (specialisation: International Intellectual Property Law); therefore I do not have any experience yet but I might have soon. So just send me a pm if you have any queries!
Ciao
Guido

Hi, Helena, I am starting my course now...to be honest I started my studies today. I am studying Trademark. I had a quick look in all the material sent by the university and I can say that this really helpful. If you have any queries that I can help drop me a note.
Guido, sorry my delay to reply your note. I have just moved to USA, so I was quite busy with my moving thing. According with your reply to Helena, I assume that you have decided to do the course.
Cheers,
Patricia

Hi Patricia,
Yes I started "Int. and. Comp. Law of Trademarks, Designs and Unfair Competition" just now. In my opinion the materials provided by UoL are really good, it appears to be very well organized. Have you decided how many of the 4 sections you're going to sit in the first exam session (which will be October for you too, right?)?
Ciao and good luck with your studies!

Hi, Guido, I have also just started "Int. and. Comp. Law of Trademarks, Designs and Unfair Competition" and I do agree with you, the material is really good and well organized. Now, I am trying to organize myself to perform the studies. :)
At first, I thought about take only one section in October exam session, but after have received the material I am thinking to sit for examination as much sections as I have had time to study until August when we have to decide which exams we are going to sit. How about you? I am happy to hear that we are studying the same subject it may be helpfull for both of us change ideas.
Take care,
Patricia

Hi,
I'm doing the LLM now.
I'd say the course was really well organised and they send you your books etc...
My only problem with it is that there is A LOT of material to get thru. I'd say too much for an external programme. Also it is a lot of rote learning/learning by heart : I dont appreciate law courses that dont allow you to take in statutes (esp for company law) because learning the statute and the section numbers etc is a waste of time.
I think it's kind of ridiculous. When I did my LLB at King's we were allowed all our books and notes. I dont expect that in an LLM, but a non-annotated statute book is standard, I would think...
Same goes for all but three subjects on the course : no permitted materials at all.
But if you dont mind that style of examination, go for it!

I know exactly what you meant LLMUOL. That's why I have purposely chosen courses that do not require the utilization of statutes (and there are plenty to chose from).
