I am currently in my last term of an LLM at the University of Kent in the UK, and I intend to pursue to a doctorate in law afterwards, possibly next year as the deadlines for programmes starting this year have already passed. My concern is that I do not have an undergraduate degree in law nor a JD. Will my chances of being admitted to a doctorate programme be severely diminished?
I am keen on Toronto and UBC as I have an MA and a BA from these institutions, respectively. However, I could not help noticing the wording in Toronto's admissions website to their SJD: "applicants will *generally* hold an LLB or JD and an LLM..." To add more confusion, UBC only requires an LLM.
Thank you for your input and time taken to reply.
