CA BAR EXAM FOR FOREIGN ATTORNEYS

talya

i am thoroughly confused and a bit upset. i did submit my application to sit for the February bar exam in California and i just received a mail stating i need to be studying for an additional year on law in US in order to qualify! I am a foreign lawyer who studied for 5 full years --strictly law btw -- but obviously i did not study English common law.
i was told today they have changed things in 2009, before 2009 you could qualify to sit for the exam. can someone please shed some light my way? is there any other way to do this or in some other state maybe?
i simply will lose my mind or whatever's left of it if i have to study one more year, waiting one more year then some more, well just to qualify for the bar... i was considering applying for Berkeley's summer LLM but not this year, probably after the bar exam results, plus summer schools are not accepted i believe, i'd doubt they would make an exception because its Berkeley. SO LOST HERE.. help please?

Are you qualified to practice law in your country? (i.e. are you admitted to your country's or state's bar?)

How did you apply? (foreign student, foreign attorney).

What country are you from? Also, what did their letter say?
