BAR exam required or not?

I have a LL.M degree equivalent in Environmental law from University of Sydney, Australia. I am planning to move to the U.S. Would I be able to practice law in the U.S without any degree from U.S itself? Or, I need to have J.D or equivalent from U.S to practice law.

I came to know about the information of BAR examination required in different states. How do I get information?

I would really appreciate if anyone could provide me information.

How about if I do PhD in Environmental law in the US?

California is the only Bar you can take without at least an LLM degree in the US. The problem is that even if you pass the Bar, it is difficult to find a job if you did not study in the US. Some states have stronger requirements. You can find all requirements fro all states in the Bar exam website.
