Enroll Sydney Law School

Bla Bla

Hey guys,

I am considering all the courses offered at Sydney Law School. There are both intensive courses and semester-length ones. I'm a bit confused how I should enroll. If all my preferred courses are all intensive, does it mean that I will be free for most of the time during the year?

I also noticed that some of the intensive courses are to be started even before the comencement of the semester 1. How can one manage to enrol in time??

Thanks a lot.

Basically, each subject is 26 contact hours. Those 26 hours are either spread over 13 weeks in the case of semester length subjects (i.e. 1 x 2 Hour Class on a weekday evening over 13 weeks) or in the case of intensive subjects, the 26 contact hours are condensed into four to five days. Delivery of intensives can differ, where there is block mode or consecutive mode. Block mode consists of four to five days straight. This could be Monday to Friday or it could be Thursday to Monday (counting Saturday and Sunday). Consecutive mode consists of the four to five days spread out - where it could be two days this week and then two days in a fortnight. 70% of the subjects are intensive in 2009 so it's safe bet that you will study quite a few. All new students enrol in late January/early February so unfortunately you'll probably miss anything that starts before semester begins, which is in early March. You may find you have extra time but that may depend upon whether the subjects you choose overlap and what the assessment is. Sometimes if it's an overseas lecturer, the assessment is 100% and is due later on, after the class is finished, which should give you sufficient time to complete it. I trawled through the website and found that if you visit this page - http://www.law.usyd.edu.au/fstudent/coursework/units.shtml - you can download the timetable or better yet, click on the icon on the far right and you can download a copy of the 2009 Guide which includes all the subjects plus the timetable. It's over 7MB though.

Hi there,
according to this page http://www.law.usyd.edu.au/fstudent/coursework/dates.shtml the last day to add intensive units is at least 8 weeks prior to class commencement.
Does that mean that I cannot take part in intensive units till the end of April when I enrol at the end of February how it is usual for international students? That thought confuses me a bit...

Cheers,

Utey
