Bar at Law from Australia

Hello Every one,
i am going to complete my LLB from Bangladesh within April 2011. Now Please do me a favor by telling that-

What is the total procedure for international students to have a bar at law degree in Australia. Can i have a bar at law degree in Australia by LLB degree which i am pursuing in Bangladesh?

I had some Bangladeshi lawyers in my class. They had to study all the subjects that LLB students do, plus some extra electives. The course takes about 4 years.

For an Australian degree you have to re-learn everything all over again.

Hi robin, My name is Nijhoom, I am currently living in the UK . I am also a Bangladeshi national, completed my LLB(Hons) from the UK.At this moment I am doing my PLT course ( what You referred as bar at law, "Bar at Law" is the degree title familiar in the UK but in Australia it is called PLT) and also completed other requirements to be eligible to practice as a barrister in NSW. Dear Nijhum Bhaiya,

It was so kind of you. I am really in need of informative support for having a Bar at Law degree from Australia. I think you would be able to help me. i have given my queries below in short.

1. Brother, I have completed my Graduation from BRAC University, Bangladesh. I am desperately trying to get a Bar at Law degree. Please tell me, in details if possible, what are the further step by step procedures I will have to go through. I mean will I have to again undertake a LLB course in Australia? Or is there any possibility to get in through conversion course which will exempt from LLB degree from Australia. For example in UK one can get into BPTC directly by having a Graduate Diploma in Law or a Common Professional Examination.

In short, is there any possibility for international student to have a conversion course or I MUST do the LLB again? :(

2. If I get an LLB from Australia, will I be eligible to get citizenship in Australia? What is the requirement for citizenship in Australia. Because I MUST take a citizenship.

I am eagerly waiting for your response. Your kind response will greatly help me!
