Singapore Management University - interview

Padma0912

Hi,

I have applied to SMU for an LLM (2013-2014).

As a part of their admissions process, I have been shortlisted for an interview (by the Law Faculty) to be preceded by an essay writing exercise. SMU grants the option of a Skype or telephonic interview and I have opted for the same.

I was wondering if anybody here has any useful information/tips on the nature of the interview and its weightage in the overall assessment.
Any inputs from those who have given such interviews at SMU in the past would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

We may be classmates if you are admitted for the Commercial Law LLM program.

The interview is not too difficult, don't worry! I cam SMU in person but I think it will be the same for interviewing via skype.

As you may be informed by the admin (me, Ms. Joanne, she's supper nice and kind), you will have 20 minutes for a short essay with two subjects and you just choose one only. I chose "more law or less law is standard of developed society..." After that, you will be interviewed by two professors, they are very friendly and it seems just a normal discussion that you may be asked to express your idea, passion for law, your plan or legal practice in your country...

According to MOM Singapore, foreign student are allowed to work full time on vacation and up to 16 hours per week during school time. Therefore I am already here to find job and place to stay. If you need to find a place to stay, there is a vacation room in my apartment. It takes 5 minutes to walk to Commonwealth MRT and then 10 minutes to SMU by green line.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you need further information, I will share my experience :)

Hope to see you at SMU. Good luck.
