My experience in CESL

lazio9

This is great news! But I guess we'll have to wait more, because from Hamburg office I received information that the first day will be august 29th.
Anyway, Elise how long after you sent your application to CESL did you received your admission lettet by post???
I'm worried about my visa application, I mean if we are going to have enough time to apply and arrive on time in Beijing.
I hope we get more info!

Maria,

I received the mail of admission on May 11th so I had to wait nearly one month to receive the official letter by post.

I think that we will get our visa on time. once we have the 202 form, it does not take a lot of time to issue the visa (except maybe the physical examination).

When are you planning to arrive at Beijing?

I hope that we will get more information before the end of june!

Hello!

I asked some questions to Christian, here are his answers :
"- There are single and double apartments for international students. If you want to rent them, you have to indicate this to the CESL office. If you prefer to rent a private room near the campus you should book a hotel room for a few days (e.g. Auspicious Business Hotel, expensive but only 5 Minutes from the campus:
http://www.tripadvisor.de/Hotel_Review-g294212-d778531-Reviews-Auspicious_Business_Hotel-Beijing.html) while you look for a private room (via estate agent, CESL office will help).

- One week should be enough for organizing your life in Changping. But I recommend not less.

Christian also sent me a draft of the course schedule for the first semester, I can send it to you if you want.

See you soon !

Hi everyone,

I plan to do a Master of European law at China EU school/ CESL. Can anybody advice on their experience. Was it worth it? Or is there someone else planning to go?

I can't recommend this program after my experience. It was very disorganized, lots of infighting amongst the Chinese and European administration. The teaching was hectic. Professors' English language abilities varied drastically... as in some could barely speak English... overall not a very academically solid program. The plus is that it is extremely easy to get in, however, if you are actually planning to practice law, this program will add little value.

Many thanks for your expressing your opinion. I may reconsider my choice. Do you know about the quality of other chinese LLM programs

Students are taught by experienced professors from 13 European partner universities. People who are native English speakers may be a little bit surprised at first to hear those scholars speak in different accents as it is usual in the international environment the programme trains students for. However, we can assure you all lecturers are experienced lecturers who have been teaching their respective field of law for years.
If you have specific questions regarding application, the usual duration of administration processes, course schedules or other aspects of the LL.M. programme, please visit our website www.cesl.edu.cn for further information. Additionally, the masters programme administrators are always happy to help. The contact information for the CESL Masters Programme Coordinator at the CESL Consortium Office in Europe is: tel.: +49 40 42838-6830 and e-mail: cesl-master-programme@jura.uni-hamburg.de.
