Working in USA after LLM

Hi everybody,
does anyone know ,if there is a way to work as a lawyer in the States after doing the LLM and NY bar examen? I want to stay in the states after finishing the bar examen. I heard that I need to work 1 year in NY as lawyer and after that i can work in every state. Can anyone confirm that or does anyone have informations about that theme?

Yes, there is a way. Finish your LLM, take the Bar, and go for it. I don't know your background and I am not a headhunter so I cannot really help you.

What I know is common sense: US law firms are not stupid, they will hire you if you have some value to add. If you have no experience at all and you don't come from a country that they have a special interest, they will not hire you. They will hire a JD instead. Now, let's say you are a Chinese corporate lawyer, with experience with foreign investment. You go to a good school in the US, take the Bar, you will probably get an offer. It is simple as that.

Bottom line: it is very, very hard to get a job (permanent position) in the US after your LLM. You need to think what you can bring to the table to the JDs can't.

Ah! Before I forget: this "1 year in NY" thing is non-sense.
