UT vs Vanderbilt

I have been admitted in both UT and Vanderbilt, and I am still making my mind.

Could you please share some advice or experiences?

At the moment, Vanderbilt has already offered me a really good scholarship, nevertheless, UT' scholarship processes are still pending.

Thank you in advance.

I don't know much about Vanderbilt but it has a decent reputation. All things being equal, I would choose UT because (1) I like Austin and (2) UT ranks highly, especially for anything to do with Latin American studies. That would be a factor for me because I have ties to Latin America. Having said that, the money can make all the difference. I might like UT less if it cost me a lot more. Good luck with your decision!

If the decisionwas between a top 6 university and something around 20th in the us news ranking I would say go with the higher ranked university. But between an university ranked 20th and 25th or something like that always take the one with the better scholarship offer exept you have any strong personal preferences. Or put it this way, would you be willing to spend x,000 $ for an unversity with a slightly better reputation. The academic environment in this categories of law schools is usualy always top quality so that is not a factor... Everything of course just if you dont have a strong preference regarding certain subjects, profesors, internships in certain areas etc.

I think both Vandy and UT have the same level of education and the cities have a lot of similarities. (Good food, good music)

I would go with the best scholarship option.

I don't think UT offers any scholarships to international applicants, do they? However, their tuition is lower compared to most other schools.

They do offer some scholarships. However, they are limited and offered to all prospectice students of UT (eg: scientists, engineers, etc) who are always in advantage because of their fields.

But we're talking about the LLM right, so then no. I mean, I asked them about it and they said they don't offer any scholarships. It was the reason I didn't apply to UT even though it seems like a great program.

There are some but again not specific for LLM (eg: the good neighbor scholarship) anyone (including LLM candidates) can apply but because of our field it would be hard to obtain it.

Where did you apply to?

Do you know how long does it take for Vandy's decision to arrived? my status changed today to "decision mailed"

It takes a few days to arrive in paper but they do send you an e-mail with the decision the same day.

I hope so, I haven't received anything yet. Although the status checker says they do not disclose admissions by telephone or email.
