Hi,
I plan to apply for an LLM in 2007/2008. I'd like to know if Law schools were very fussy about marks you get during undergraduate studies if at the same time you have completed a lot of different degrees (I have 2 law master, bar exam, CPA diploma, Master in finance, Business school diploma, and I am currently finishing my PhD thesis).
Thank you !

why do you want an llm if you already have a phd? what's a 2 law master, a cpa, and what area is your phd in?

Thanks for your answer. I have two different law master degrees (different specializations : in securities law and in public international law) and my Phd is in international economic law.
Apart from taking the NY bar exam, an LLM would be a valuable asset to diversify opportunities for teaching abroad (i am currently teaching assistant) and apply for international organizations.
Thanks.

In my view, and based on this limited info, an LLM would not add much to your CV. You already have two master's of Law and soon a PHd. Unless those degrees are from low ranked schools and the proposed new LLM is from a top ranked school, I can't see that having a third master's degree makes much sense. Even my comment here about obtaining a high-ranked LLM is probably not terribly useful, since it would seem another master's degree is really quite redundant, unless you think that maybe a Harvard LLM for example would help with networking and enable you to land a big job in NYC.

Otherwise, If it's academia you want, then publish, publish, publish. Spend your time applying or postdoctoral research felowships, not an LLM.

Harsh harsh words Irish. Whilst I agree with you that maybe 2 LLMs and a PHD should mean that the person is sufficiently qualified, I am sure you will agree with me that it is not uncommon to find many Professors with several LLMs and PHDs. Is it fair to then say that because the person wants to persue further research, for instance, that they don't have a J-O-B (as the Americans would say)? I don't think so. I think another poster had said that perhaps Reddie should not persue a further LLM but take the area of specialization that he/she most enjoys, and apply for research fellowships and get published. I think that would be more fruitful for Reddie to bear in mind than simply "get a job".
