Profile like this...what are the chances? ...to get into T14 LL.M.

WAAstor

I wonder with the profile like this....

Academic
- LL.B. from a top-tier Asian university (My university always ranks in the Top 5 of universities in Asia, no matter what field)
- GPA 3.1 out of 4...well, one of my weakest points
- My university doesn't use the class ranking system, There is no way one can know where he/she is placed.
-TOEFL 107
- Speak 3 languages fluently. (Actually, my LL.B. is done in my 2nd foreign language)
- 1 Publication (on a government agency's website)

Works/Volunteer Exp
-Internship at the Cabinet Legislations Office (Glowing recommendation letter)
-Internship at the Criminal Court
-Volunteered at the English camp, organised by an NPO
-English class TA at my university
-Freelance Interpreter/Translator (had the experience interpreting during the official meetings concerning law and regulations between govt agencies from different countries)
-Another part-time job (I prefer not to mention the job content but it is quite impressive. Most people in the US would recognise the name of this organisation upon hearing it)

and this and that... (not important enough to mention, above are the major ones)

Extracurricular
-President of Hiking Club
-helped organising an academic conference

Provided that I don't need any financial aids from a school, what are my chances at US T14 Law School (LL.M.)?

Thank you in advance for your opinion.

I think it will depend on how strong your personal statement and recommendations are. As you say, your low GPA seems to be your weak point so if you have a good explanation for it, I'd say it's not impossible.

Good luck!

True...alll that matters is a good recommendation letter (recos) and your statement of purpose (sop)...

LLM candidates are good source of money for US universities so they would welcome you!!! getting to a good one needs good recos and sop.

Well, if your goal is to gain admission into one of the top-14, I think you have good chances as long as you send an average of 6-8 applications. Actually, you might expect to be admitted by more than just one school. Don't forget that each school deals with its own LLM program(s) quite differently. Georgetown Law Center (I school that I personally love) admits quite a number of LLMs (400+, if I recall correctly). NYU and Columbia follow with 400+ and 200+ students admitted every year. At the opposite end of the spectrum, you have Yale with 25 students per year, Stanford with 45-50, UChicago and Berkeley with 70-80... All in all, I believe you've reasons to think positive
