LLM LST Stanford

Hi, I am applying for this LLM and I'm wondering what is the "common" profile for successful applicants. Is law firm experience the bare minimum? I have already a few years' experience, but not in a law firm.

thanks!

You can get a sense of what the school is looking for by browsing through the program's current candidates:

https://law.stanford.edu/directory/?tax_and_terms=1070

From the smattering of profiles I looked at, most have extensive experience, and some have advanced degrees, like previous LLMs and even PhDs.

Hello, just wondering if anyone else applied for this program? I believe from previous posts that there has been a phone interview in late Feb for (at least some of) those who are shortlisted. Still a while to go until then, but has anyone heard anything yet?

PS noble2014: I am not sure when the successful candidates create a profile, but presumably after they arrive in Stanford to begin their studies.

Slightly off topic. If they call you, does it mean you're almost in? (I guess you're never truly in until you get an admission e-mail).

Have you read / heard from people being rejected after the phone interview?

Best of luck to all of us (and lots of patience for the upcoming months!)

Depends on the school but generally a call is a good thing. Every call (phone, Skype, etc.) I received all resulted in acceptance letters. Of course there were schools that never called me that accepted me as well.

Hi, would you mind sharing what the call was about? I did not apply for this year, as I am still completing a professional committment. It would however be useful to hear what the call is about, i.e. your CV and motivation or is it also a way for the University to know to what extent you are already familiar with the issues dealt with in the course? thanks!

Hi, I got a call from Stanford yesterday. Wasn't sure if it was routine so was checking this forum. The call lasted for about 10 minutes. I was asked questions based on what I wrote in my personal statement and what I had in my resume.

I was told that the caller would take notes and that these notes would help the committee take a decision. So, I guess this is a positive step? Or do they call everyone who has applied?

That seems to be a good sign according to previous years' posts ! Would you mind sharing with us which LLM you applied for ?
