Hi,

I am an Indian Law student and a registered Indian Patent Agent. I have been admitted in Benjamin Cardozo School of Law with scholarship of $ 20, 000 and Franklin Pierce Law Center (Scholarship awaited).

I am highly confused which university should I choose out of these two.

i am a current student at FPLC. I am not so much a patent enthusiast, but I know from my frnds that the courses apart from substantive patent law (which i took) are amazing. The courses on prosecution, drafting, some mini courses and inter-partes proceedings at USPTO along with the option of engaging in tech transfer class/clinic are very unique to the school.

Apart from that, the school has a very welcoming atmosphere, has diwali/holi events for students.. the experience is very enriching interms of interaction with profs n peers... I will urge u to strongly consider this place.

i did not get accepted at GWU, and Berkeley. and stanfrd does not offer LLM IPR, it only has LLM and IPR is just a subject there.....so i am left deciding between Cardozo and Franklin Pierce Law Center.....any opinion?

rkv, Stanford is offers one of THE best IP LLM programs. It's LLM in Law, Science and Technology is nothing but an intensive IP LLM program. It also has leading IP scholars such as Mark Lemley and Paul Goldstein as its faculty. If there is an opportunity, go for it next year! check out the IP LLM rankings. Stanford is first or alternatively, second (after Berkeley). Btw even Boston and NYU (LLM in Competition and Innovation) have good IP LLMs. I think deadline for application to Boston is March end. So, if you can, send in your application to Boston asap.

I haven't heard great things about Franklin Pierce. Cardozo seems to be better of the two.

Good luck!

From what I gathered, Cardozo is great for IP AND you got a scholarship? I would say go for it. Granted, it might not be Stanford, but the energy of an up-and-coming school is also a very positive aspect!
