LLM and certificate in business administration

Denergy

Hi everybody!

I am going to apply for two programs next year: LLM and Advanced Certificate in Business administration in Northwestern and NYU. I've been doing M&A transaction for past 5 years and enjoy the transactional work. It is close to business and In future I would like to make such a transition.

I can't crack the GMAT (math is against my nature :)) and don't want to leave work for 2 years, that's why I apply to Law and Business programs, which allow to take up to 5-6 subjects from business school.

Did anybody applied to such programs? Do you plan to apply? Do you know smbd studying there or alumni?

I am an M & A lawyer too.

I have been accepted to the LLM kellog and the LLM stern priogram. But I might not choose both because these are mere summer schools and the courses are too basic and may not add any value to a M & A transaction as compared to an actual MBA.

The LLM kellog has courses are very MBA oriented and you will study using mathematics for decision making, marketing, Human resources and I dont think these will help in any transaction...and will be more suited if you want to work with a company or be a business lawyer.

The LLM stern is more tailored for an M & A Lawyer as the MBA courses are also M & A oriented .. however, unless I do the program I may not be able to comment whether they will help me or not.

If I were you I would also look at the Upenn Wharton program...and compare them to the above two.
