Hey,
I'm an italian law student. Actually, I'm specializing in international business contract law and I'm going to apply for an ll.m. for 2008-09.
My "problem" is that I have to choose WHERE to apply!
At the beginning, I did not considered the possibility of applying in the US at all. I was quite sure that I was not interest in it. But some month ago, I talked about my projects with an assistant professor which encouraged me to sent applications to several wellknown US universities.
I would decide now (and not after the results of the applications) because I'd prefer to not waste my money in application fees and TOELF (I already have the IELTS certificate)
So, I'd like your opinion about some arguements pro and contra applying to US Univ.
Pro (that are, more or less, the things that the assistent professor told me, and the reasons of my doubts):
- it has a better reputation
- with an us ll.m. it's easier to find a job in an international law firm rather than with an uk ll.m.
- it's possible to have the bar exam (the italian one is quite complex and it takes at least 2 years to be completed)
Contra
- I'm not interest in moving stably to the US to find a job and live there for the rest of my life
- It's very very very expensive
- I'm not sure that the things that I listed as "pro" are true!!!!!
I really appreciate your help!
Thanks!!!!!!
