Job market after tax LLM

I'm considering doing an LLM in Tax Law at potentially NYU or UVA. The advice amongst my friends is that 'if you're going to do an LLM, do it in tax law,' or something along those lines.

But I'm really questioning the value of this degree in terms of the job market. I've sort of struggled with work since getting my JD and I know I need *something* but not sure if it's an LLM. That's why I'm really exploring the actual value of the degree and what it can do for me looking for a job in the next three to five years.

Thanks!

If you're focused on US Tax Law, and you are a US citizen or have permanent residency already, you'd probably be in demand after graduation.

There have been a lot of changes in tax laws recently, and firms need good attorneys to sort these issues out.

Of course, nothing is a sure thing!

If you're focused on international tax law, there are other considerations as well. But in general a tax LLM is often a good investment.

Hey thanks for the advice. I am a US citizen, actually. I will apply to some schools for a tax LLM this year!
