Hello Fellow Members,

I have studied LLB and Company Secretary in India and; hold 4 year of work experience working in the legal department of a multinational public company of India, practicing Corporate Law, Foreign Exchange Management Law, RBI, Securities Law, Contract Law, Mergers and Acquisition transactions etc.

I am seeking expert advice on what could be the best career option available for a person like me in USA.

Are job opportunities available for immigrants in legal field in California?

In the US, there's not really a similar position as a company secretary.

In terms of immigration, I believe that the US job market tends to favor specialized workers who generally work at lower costs than domestics. Engineers from India tend to be in demand, for instance.

I think that law tends to be much, much tougher, unfortunately. Perhaps if you did an LLM from a great school in California, Berkeley/Stanford/UCLA/etc., that, plus your legal experience in India might be attractive to a law firm. But I'm not entirely sure how often this kind of transition actually happens, and I'm frankly skeptical about it ever happening.

Why not ask law schools directly for case studies of people in similar positions to you?
