How to get a loan for LLM?

krystyusa

Hello, I’m looking for help in getting a loan or finding a sponsor for my LLM. I've graduated law school in my country (international law) and I want to get an LLM in American law as I would like to practice for several years as attorney in USA. I would appreciate if somebody would pass me information of any kind concerning my problem.

You'll have to check what funding is available, we can't say that easily.

Fulbright: most countries have departments of Fulbright that give scholarships to exquisite students

Dear krystyusa, information is readly available in several different places:

1. check with your university's career advisor / international office, often they will have a list of available stipends

2. check the financial aid page of the law schools you intend to apply to. They usually have helpful advice regarding financing your ll.m. Also, you will get an idea of how much money you will have to raise for your ll.m.

3) talk to your local bank to see what financing options are available (loan, student loan?)

4. Do a google search on international student loans. There are some US banks (Wells Fargo, City) that offer international student loan programs. Most now require a US-citizen as cosigner, however.

Good luck!
