Dear all,
As you may see in my wee profile on this website I am enrolled at Ghent Law School. In my, and many peoples opinion, the best law school in Belgium :P
I have received an offer to write a doctorate and attain a PHD at the department of law & Economics. I personally find this a very prestigious offer (not many doctorandi can be found in Belgium each year).
No my question is, would you write a little message to HLS sharing with them this update to my situation?
Kind regards
HLS and a doctorate...

Hmm I think this is a tricky one. I don't see the harm in communicating it to them unless it conflicts with anything you have provided in your application. What I mean is, if for example you have indicated that you intend to undertake a phd/sjd there after the end of your LLM etc. That is the only situation I can see it potentially being an impediment of some sort. That being said, frankly I am dubious as to how great of an effect an acceptance by another school could in fact add to your application but you never know!

Congratulations. This certainly sounds like a good opportunity. However, HLS might think the same, concluding that this will result in you taking on the PhD at home instead of the LL.M. abroad. This will then have backfired (in case you do not intend to do so - if you do it might be time to withdraw the Application). Keeping this is mind I would probably not mention it because it might do more harm than good. But maybe I am just a coward in this respect?
Good Luck, Miss C.

Ah... a small correction :D
I received the offer in the sense that they are expecting me upon my return of a top 5 US Law school... It does not interfere with my LL.M., to the contrary... The ll.m. is a condition of the offer :D
