Dear all,
I am in the process of searching for an appropriate unit at CLS. My criteria:
Price: USD1000+/-200/month (including utilities)
Proximity to Law School: the closer the better
Of course, security is always the priority concern.
I have studied the info provided by school and explored relevant threads on the board, my initial findings are:
1. WEST 115TH AND 116TH STREET
Seem to be a good choice. Close to law school and price for a bedroom in a 3-bedroom share ($970-1160) is a bit expensive but acceptable.
Cons: some say the buildings are old and the units are smaller.
Q1: Are the roommates randomly picked by the lottery?
Q2: Are there any two-bedroom apt?
Q3: Any more detailed info and which is better btw 115th and 116th?
2. HARMONY
Seems to be the cheapest choice ($790-950)
Cons: People have to share the 2 bathrooms on each floor, which may be inconvenient.
Q4: How many people are there living on a floor? Will it be very inconvenient to share bathrooms and kitchen?
3. Lionsgate
Price for a room in a shared apt is similar to 115th and 116th Street
Cons: Four blocks away from law school. Could be an advantage for some people though since its said to be closer to the fun parts of Amsterdam Ave and Broadway.
Q5: Since the price is similar to 115th and 116th street, could anyone compare the two?
4. LENFEST
Newly decorated, fully furnished, highly-modern management
Cons: Price ($1580 the least) over my budget; some say a bit far from the law school (10-20 mins walk)
Q6: Any other options of on-campus housing that can meet my criteria?
Hope the above is helpful to those having not decided which to apply.
Also wish to be provided more insider information and answers to my questions. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for opening this topic
Hope people post information, also about non- university housing options, near the univ, or a little removed.
International House - does anyone have info on it?

Is Harmony available to LLMs? I was under the impression it was only for undergraduates.

Hey guys!
I am currently an LL.M. candidate at CLS. I live at Lenfest and this is the best place as to on-campus housing, though very expensive. Most of the JDs and LLMs live there. Just one thing: not true that it is far from law school. It is on 121st street, and law school is located on 116th. It takes 3 minutes to get to law school, less than 10 to get to 116th St subway station.
Cheers.
