Which of the two would you choose to stydy international criminal law, human rights and international public law (and why)?
Harvard or Columbia for Human Rights LLM?

I don't know what is on offer at Harvard but Columbia has Cassese (sp?) - a judge on the ICC - teaching there and you can take the UN Externship which allows you to work at the UN for 1-2 days a week and get course credits for it.

I am not aware of any specific program pertaining to international criminal law at Harvard or Columbia. There are a few LL.M specialized in this area in Europe (Leiden, Geneva). The best thing to do is probably an internship in one or the other international tribunal. That's where you'll be able to learn.
For public international law, NYU has the best reputation, but of course, HLS and CLS are very good as well.
For Human Rights, they are both great.
It depends on what you want to do after your LL.M...

ARE YOU CRAZY???
It's taught by Richard Goldstone, former CHIEF PROSECUTOR FOR THE UN, who is also a former South African Constitutional Court justice and teaches a Comparative Constitutional Law class as well.

Lol:) in all fairness however, "i am not aware of..." is a bit of a different thing from "There is no..."

**maybe not**

Having a former Prosecutor of the ICTY/ICTR (1993-1996) as a professor does not necessarily mean that the LL.M. is specialized in international criminal law.
I was trying to give a genuine advice and suggesting other options. Perhaps that was crazy...

Sorry. Didn't understand that you meant "program" in the sense of the entire LLM. An international criminal law-focused LLM is a tall order, though, especially for an American institution.

Thank you very much! We'll see what happens. Unfortunately, HLS and Columbia are the only universities I have applied for so NYU and others are out of the question for me. I suppose HLS and Columbia will both be very good. Haven't heard från HLS yet so maybe I will not have to choose ;-)
