Hi all,
Greetings,
Is there anyone who has been admitted to LL.M. program at one of the top 10 US law schools although his/her overall grade and ranking in the undergraduate study were not very high.
I am asking this question because I want to apply to SJD program at one of the top 10 US law schools. And I would like to share my credentials with you in case you have any advice for me; I received my first law degree from Cairo University with an overall grade of Good (average) , and an LL.M degree from Indiana University with 3.7 GPA. Both law schools do not rank their students!
I really want to know whether my average GPA in undergraduate study can negatively affect my admission or not. In other words, does undergraduate GPA and Rank really make high weight in evaluating an applicant file?
Your reply will be highly appreciated.
thanks
Ayman

Just apply. Dnt overthink it, grades see important, but so are a billion other factors. Make yourself look good in the application and have a few "back up schools.

Many thanks mdm31 for your support. i am sure you know how can applying be confusing with the feeling that rejection possibility is high. but i will give it a shot...nothing to lose. however; a real exeperience will support my decision.

My point is that noone here is an expert or can say for sure that you will be accepted or not. What I can tell you is that I was pretty sure I was going to be rejected by all my top choices as my grades were just average, and so far I have been admitted to 6 top schools. And I saw people with better grades than mine being rejected by some of the schools that accepted me.
That is why I say that you should just apply and not overthink it. Put a lot of work into the personal statement and letters of recommendation.

You are completely right... I have previously seen many applicants with superier grades and been rejected. but i thought that by logic average grades will of course lead to an automatic rejection... but here you are making things more practicable. you really gave me hope. thank you.
