Hi everyone,
I was also admitted to CLS. I am still waiting for results from other universities, but at the moment it is most likely that I will go to CLS this summer !
For those still waiting - finger crossed for you :-).

I received a fedex yesterday with the offer of a $20,000 tuition waiver... They are still making offers and financial aid decisions. Be patient and it will pay off- at least it did for me! Hope to see many of you in NYC in August!

I think we could start a yahoo group or something like that...
that would make things easier, I've read that they did it last year...
what do you think?
By the way, I'm from Spain....
Cheers!

Hi guys,
I was admitted to CLS, but wasn't offered any financial assistance. I was thinking about writing them but not sure exactly which is the right way to do it after my initial application for financial aid was already rejected.
what do you think?
any advice?
and also, do you know about any other grants/scholarships for international students that might be helpful?
Thanks!

There's no question that you should go back to them on funding.
I sought to increase my offer of funding from Columbia but was refused. However, I have talked to people who have been successful and in short: they were very honest and to the point about their financial situation; pointed out that Columbia was the most expensive university in the most expensive city; advised Columbia of other admission/funding offers available to them; and (I think honestly...) stated that Columbia was their first choice, but without funding, could not realistically accept their offer.
In their reponse to my request they did say their priority was to give funding to people that had no other fuding avaiable to them - which is promising (if true...).

It didn't work for me though. I very honestly described my situation: had no way of financing and explained why could not take a loan. I alredy arranged with my employer for part-time work of the firm's office in New York. But Columbia only offered me a deferral as an option. So, I guess, CLS's financial aid is first of all merit based
