Boston vs. Houston

Does anyone know anything about University of Houston law Center? I got admitted to Boston Uni and University of Houston. For the US NEWS, Boston ranks higher than Houston. But Boston's total expense for LLM is 20,000USD more expnsive than Houston. Could anyone give me some advice on which one to go? Does the the difference of rank20 and rank50 worth 20,000USD? THX!

Depends on what you are going to do with the degree. In the US, a third-tier law school diploma doesn't count for much, unless you aspire to be an ambulance chaser. I strongly suggest you to consider Boston. It might be different if you want to study with certain scholar in Houston, or love rodeo. Otherwise, choose Boston.

Boston! LLM is not an investment for the future. Boston will make your credential better compared with Houston. The place I work for compare the law school rank when hiring new people.

Houston ranked 65 is a long road downward compared to number 20. BU is a great university and the city of Boston is simply amazing. Go north!

You can't take overall rankings at face value. It depends on what you want to study. For instance, Houston is ranked 2nd in the nation for health law and policy and 5th for intellectual property. That's much higher than Boston in those areas. The cost of living in Houston is also much much lower and you don't have to worry about snow (just the occasional hurricane...).

Is it a tier 3 school if it is ranked 65? I thought tier 3 was below the top 100. How is the "tier" system anyways?

Btw, Texas is hot and humid. I'd rather take a little snow in beautiful Boston ;)
