URGENT DILEMMA!

Churchill

I could either go to Warwick University this year and do the International Economic Law LLM, or I could wait 1 year and do the International Trade and Commercial Law LLM at Durham. The course content seems pretty similar, and the main reason I am doing the LLM is to get a training contract in the UK, so I am looking for the most prestigious university that would look the best on my CV.

I know that Durham is probably regarded as slightly better than Warwick, but is the gap wide enough for me to wait a year and go to Durham? Or do you think the gap is small, and therefore I should just go to Warwick? I would be prepared to wait a year, but if it is unnecessary, then obviously I don't want to.

I'm really not sure what to do, but I must make my mind up within the next couple of days. What does everyone think? Please reply asap people, this could have a huge bearing on my future!

It's not worth waiting a year. Warwick's law school has an excellent reputation for IEL, and I wouldn't consider Durham to be a better LLM programme. If you were talking about an LLB, then I'd say maybe wait the year.

I doubt there are law firms that would view Durham as particularly better than Warwick (and, of course, your undergraduate degree will be the main decisive factor for recruiters).
