I know it might sound a little silly or ridiculous but I'm currently contemplating on these two universities. I have a GPA of 3.7 and a Band 8 for IELTS.
UCL is well-established and 'famous' but I'm having trouble with time as I might not have ample time to apply for my visa (it's almost August now!). I've called the uni yesterday and they will provide me with a conditional offer, to which I am able to fulfill. Apart from that, I'm having trouble looking for a place to stay.
Hull is more relaxing, I suppose, compared to UCL which is probably filled with competitive (and utterly smart) students and having an agent in my country (Malaysia) most definitely helped a lot as she would settle the visa and accommodation issues for me.
By the way, got offered LLM International Law by Uni of Hull and LLM Law by UCL.
Advise me!!!
UCL or Hull?

Hull is a very cool place to my eyes. Not the nicest city, but also better than its reputation. The Uni is beautiful!
London, well, it's London...

Thanks so much for the replies. I have decided to go with Hull, and maybe apply to pursue my PhD in London in the near future.
Sounds like a good plan?

RECONSIDER HULL - l am right in Hull, its boring, yes its cheap but not that cheap, consider another school with a better reputation like York - they have really good people there, but as an undergraduate l have seen things in Hull you would not believe.
I have had all kinds of trouble with this department - you get really bad grades and you really have to work hard and you only flank. Reconsider Hull - its cheap, but not that cheap, the uni nice, but the law school you will not be very happy here and it depends on who you have teaching you - some people are really lovely others want to hurt you, honestly. There is a jekyll and hyde mentality here, l got really bad treated at Hull it was like having a crown of thorns placed on your head as you dragged the cross and l really worked for nothing. Others have done nothing and they have done very well - think again.

Yikes. That's not a good experience, huh.
But I have just accepted Hull's offer this morning. well, all I can do now is hope I get good professors :-)
I've heard from many sources that Hull's Int. Law is very well known and recognised.

With all due respect the poster above creates an incredibly misleading impression. Perhaps he or she had a bad personal experience there but I imagine that is as much a product him or herself rather than the law school. The lecturers are excellent and has a well-deserved reputation for its law school. If in doubt, I know of several individuals who have recently graduated from Hull and now have places on both the Oxford BCL and Cambridge LLM.

Tigerland, thank you for the clarification. I have yet to receive my Visa Letter from UCL. I'd probably head to Hull at the end of the day.

UCL will take you places that Hull cannot. If you care about such things (and law firms and other universities do care) UCL is ranked among the top 10 to 25 universities in the world. Hull does not place anywhere near this.
You say you got an offer for LLM Law from UCL: that is because you choose your specialism after you arrive.
Hull is a good school. UCL is world class.

John,
Very well said. Thanks.
I've decided to go with UCL. Went to the visa application centre this morning to submit my application.
See you guys there!

Chopedsuey- I am glad that some else had a bad experience of Hull. I'd agree completely with most of what you say although I received good grades. I am also fed up with people weighing up the credibility of Hull by the fact that some graduates go to Oxbridge.
The university is not a pleasant place to be if you have a strong work ethic and the lecturers usually have favourites with the opposite (who incidentally get the jobs at local firms).
Working hard, going to Oxford really is the last thing most people there care about (not saying they should care either) Besides, it's the level of scholarship of some of Hull's academics that is quite impressive, not a lot else at times.

York's only had a law school for 2 years. It's definitely a great university but not for law.
