Does anyone know whether the 2,000 words word limit include referencing (footnotes, endnotes, etc)?

You should contact the university to which you will submit the work (which I assume you are submitting with your application).

Many thanks for your reply. I was asking this in relation to the Oxford BCL. I have e-mail them a couple of days ago, but there has yet to be a reply.

And may somebody confirm with me that the BCL application only requires the submission of 1 written work?

Iv applied for the BCL too, the instructions say you only submit one or two pieces of work depending on what your applying for....the BCL its one for sure, second one im not too sure....but i do know that foot notes ARE INCLUDED in the word count!

Hi, thx for the confirmation. I've also got the reply for the footnote question which says:
"The written work can be 2000 words with or without references, the word limit is for guidance only. "
