There is a lot of debate on University rankings on this site. Personally I lost what little faith I had with the rankings a few years ago when we increased our entry grades on the LLB and saw our ranking fall dramatically according to one table whilst it rose on another!

Professor Malcolm Grant, Provost of UCL undertook a forensic defenestration of the University ranking systems. The core message is that they all should be taken with several pinches of salt.
