"Second tier" universities

jrlucius

Hello everyone,

I am planning to study LLM International Commercial Law in UK. My question for you guys is what University can you recommend for this field if law excluding QML, UCL, LSE, Oxford, Cambridge, KCL. Obviously I would like to study in these schools, but my financial resources do not cover their tuition fees+accommadation given the exchange rates in my country.

I've been searching such universities but have not decided on although I got unconditional offers from Bristol, Reading, UEA, Liverpool and some other universities. I will file more applications so thse are not all of my options. At that point I would like to know which "second-tier" universities that you guys can recommend me to apply. For example, is TCD a good alternative?

Thank you in advance for your help

Hello jrlucius,

If you wish to pursue an LL.M. in Commercial Law I recommend University of London, The City Law School, University of Edinburgh, Manchester, NLS - Nottingham, Glasgow and as you already mentioned Trinity College London (TCD) although there are a lot more.
TCD offers an LL.M. in International and Comparative Law. If costs matters to you I believe other Universties may be cheaper than TCD. They still charge 9.068 GBP for Europeans and even 17.363 GBP for Non-Europeans.
NLS/ Nottingham offers an LL.M in International Trade and Commercial Law for 5900 GBP PT or 12.600 GBP FT. They support your career development and it is possible to take modules from CPD awards.
What are your main criteria for choosing a University?
1) LLM in Commercial law - UK at low cost?

Are there any other facts that influence your decision?

Thank you for replying my post.

Of course financials is not the only factor while it has a big influence on my decision. Briefly, I can state my intention as going to the best possible university for LLM Commercial Law that I can afford. I have skimmed the posts in this forum and people are always recommending schools like QML, LSE, KCL and so on. It is obvious that I can not afford those schools and costs of living in London. I wonder if it is considered useless to have a LLM degree from other law schools. Even if that is the case, I still need a LLM degree obtained abroad for my career.

Approximately 15.000 GBP for tuition fee is ok for me to cover.
