As much as I like discussions and brainstorms (and I do think this could actually be fun), I think this topic is sort of a mined field. If we really start naming the programmes we regard as overrated, were bound to step into subjectivity and Im sure the posts will bring forward the worst in people. Many will start standing up for their respective schools and others will come forward and say that particular school is worthless (sometimes with some reason indeed). Well wind up in a situation where posts will become passionate and reasonless Ive seen it happen before. Even though all of the arguing happens online and someday worst enemies on this forum may bump into each other and become best friends, I dont think its good to see all those impolite posts where people are meaninglessly mean towards each other anyhow, if you really want to engage in this discussion, feel free to do so (of course, how could I stop you from doing that?) Ill certainly butt in at some point to give my opinion.

Overrated relative to what? I don't know what value could be extracted from this thread that isn't already found elsewhere.
I do think that whether doing an LL.M. is a good financial investment and whether there may be non-financial advantages to LL.M.'s which make looking at them in strictly financial terms inappropriate, would both be questions worthy of discussing, if only to make sure people are going into this process with their eyes open. I also think it would be appropriate for those of us who have been all the way through the LL.M. application process and actually completed a program to comment on whether our particular experiences lived up to what they were promised to be. Those things would be helpful, but, as valuable as the first question would be, especially in the post-Great Recession era (Are we there yet?), it doesn't seem like we would really be discussing that in a serious way; and, as valuable as the second question would be, most of the people who post here are only prospective students who, in most cases, will not have any particular expertise about whether a particular program is overrated. (Now, if you've worked in a law firm for 15 years and participated in hiring, for example, then, of course, you might have something to add.)
I hate to be divisive, but, quite honestly, beicon is right. Those who could offer something from our own experiences about whether our programs were overrated or otherwise, likely already do. Everything else is just going to be conjecture and pretty unhelpful.
