Hi everybody,

I just got an unconditioned offer from Manchester University, for an LLM in International Business Law. Is anybody going there first of all?
I'm still waiting for a few replies from other universities - Leeds, Newcastle, Durham - in order to make my definite choice. Meanwhile I'm giving a look at accomodation at Manchester University... something not really easy to choose. Any advise would be very welcome.
bye for now,

Vincenzo

Hi Vincenzo!

I am going to Manchester for the same LLM program. I have applied for Weston Hall and Opal Gardens, a friend of mine who is there reccomended those! Weston Hall is in the centre of city, Opal Gardens is a bit far (15-20 min walking) but very nice too! If you need anything else dont hesitate to ask!
Meanwhile, I would definetely reject Leeds...

Hi again thessaloniki,

Thanks for answer! By the way, have you heard about hardy farm? Seems to be a bit far from centre of campus, but much cheaper and there seems to be almost every kind of faclity over there!
Another question. Do you know whether it's possible to choose a module from another LLM program? I'd like to study International Law of Credit and Securities and would like to put it in my programme instead of some listed in the stream.

Ciao for now

Hi Vincenzo!

No, I havent anything about hardy farm, it must be quite far from the centre and probably thats why it is cheaper. Why dont you check it on the site? I think they have some fotos or you can e-mail the people at the hardy farm for more details!
From what I have noticed, the courses of IBL stream are the same with those of European Law stream. That probably means that they have already mixed the courses so as to choose from a relevant stream and not from amother one. But I cant be sure on that and I havent checked it because I prefer the courses of my stream.
Hope I helped you abit!

arrivederci!

Hi again,
Thanks indeed, you helped me! Fortunately I also have a friend from Manchester here who studied there and she'll give me some good advises too. I'll tell you these information too if you want.
By the way, when did you plan to go there? I heard courses are starting at the end of September.
ciao for now

Hi V!

Any information would be really helpful so I will be waiting for a new post of yours!
I am thinking going there on 17th September or so. I have to book a ticket because it will be difficult to find one within the next months...

Hi again!

I just found out that we have to take two options from the IBL stream and we can choose two options from any other stream! So, I believe that's suits us, right? They will send us the registration package with the options of the courses within the next weeks!

Well, I will definetely take EU business law and EC Competition law. Then, I lean to Case Studies or International Corporations and law. If I have the chance to choose from another stream, I am thinking about Trademark Law and Practice. Is your friend a law student? MAybe he/she could tell us about the professors, who is good and who is average, so that we choose the right courses!

Hi Thessaloniki,

Well, my friend is not a law student, she graduated in foreign languages and her advises will be very valuable for other aspects, such as accomodations, nightlife, places to see and to hung around, pubs... i'll give you all details of it, i guess you'll be quite interested.
as for the professors, i think the level in manchester should be quite high, so i wouldn't be too much concerned.

Hi Thessaloniki,

Finally i made my mind up with accomodation! According to my friend's advices, the choice is between being next to the city centre - that's to say north of the campus - or staying within a students environment - that's in the south, a bit far from centre, but there's planty of buses there! -. So avoid the centre of the campus around Rusholme!
My first choice would be Oak House, then maybe Whitworth Park, and i have to decide the third one.

Hello Guys

Could somebody please tell me, how much would a student need (approximately) to cover living expenses in Manchester (room, food, transportation) ?

Thank you very much
