MA= Master of Arts
as opposed to
LLM= Master of Laws

MA degrees are usually meant for non-lawyers who want knowledge of the law.

it's not different. Both LLM and MA students study together, same tax modules.

I´m considering to apply for UCL pre-sessional english classes and have the same doubt.

I will take a TOEFL test on December but certainly won´t achieve the necessary grade to direct entry (109).

So, I probaly will take the pre-sessional english classes, which not signify direct entry, since we have to achieve around 75% to be accepted to course the LLM.

Is it difficult to achive this mark? UCL inform in its website that around 90% of students achive the necessary grade in pre-sessional course.

I took a pre-sessional course at King's. I wasn't impressed with the method of teaching because they were not separate a class by major but every student studied together. And all my classmates felt the same as me.

Some teachers were excellent but some were nightmare, it depended on your luck though. I was lucky enough to have a nice one.

70% means you'll have to get 70% in presentation, essay(1,500 words) , and examination. it wasn't hard all teachers will try to get you pass through it even though there were some student who didnt pass the exam. But if ur score r bwtween 65-69, u can negotiate with the department.

About UCL, I have many friends study there and it was more difficult than king's. The teaching method was different as well. And last year for law students who failed to get the expected % , had to go to other universities. UCL is very strict with their standard.

I'm considering an offer both for the MA in Tax Law of KCL and the Master of International Tax Law of Leiden University. The program is maybe better in Leiden, but London is a great city. It is a difficult decision. Any suggestion? anyone studying at KCL may describe the course?
Thank you
