Hello everyone! I've applied for the LLM programme in Corporate/Commercial Law at LSE, QMUL, Cambridge (MCL) and UCL! Which one do you think is better?
If you guys have received an offer from Cambridge, would you accept it rather than pursuing an LLM in London, which is the commercial and financial centre of the UK? I intend to return to my home country (Brazil) after I complete my studies.

Hi Marcelo,
I'm Brazilian too and have applied for these universities. By now I only have received an offer from UCL. I'm still waiting for more offers but I'm tending to go to UCL.
All of them have a strong reputation in Commercial Law but in my view Cambridge, UCL and LSE are the best.
I won't go to UCL only if I get an offer from Cambridge.

Leave LSE out of this list. In recent years standard of LSE have come down to a new low. Imagine that one of my friends who got through to LSE for LLM in IPR, while he was enrolling he got to know that there is no faculty for Patent and Copyrights in the college, hence the college asked him to change his course !
This is a reality. There is only one good College for LLM in london and that is KCL !

Thank you all for replying.
I've received an offer from KCL, but I'm not sure whether or not to accept it, as KCL does not offer the Corporate Law specialization. In fact, as far as I know, only LSE, UCL and QMUL offer modules related to mergers and acquisitions, which are my academic focus.
The problem is that one of my referees has told me that he messed up the UCL's recommendation. Apparently, he sent it incomplete, thus I don't believe UCL is going to offer me a place.

From Brazil here too.
Are you an academic in Brazil? Or do you work at a law firm?
Either way, if you get an offer from Cambridge, that's where you should go. London may be the financial centre, but Cambridge is Cambridge and what matters the most is the reputation of the university, especially in Brazil.
Let me know if you need any help.

Hi, beicon, it's nice to hear from someone who already holds an LLM. I work as a lawyer here in Salvador, although I plan to move from my hometown to Sao Paulo, where I'll be able to pursue a career in a major law firm.

it seems that none of you would choose UCL or LSE rather than Cambridge

hey beicon and marcelo!
From Brazil as well!
I have applied for the MCL too (but that was my only option, since if focuses on the Corporate subject and it is held in Cambridge)...
marcelo: how is your admission going?
cheers!

Hi pfjunior, my application is still under consideration by the degree committee. Have you taken the IELTS exam? According to the MCL website, only language scores achieved by 1 February 2012 will be taken into account.
See you

Hi guys.
From Brazil as well.
I guess I am in the same situation of Marcelo. I got an offer from UCL and QMUL, but I'm still waiting LSE and Cambridge's MCL response.
I also have the same doubt concerning London. I agree that Cambridge has a higher reputation, but London is a big city and a global financial centre (and that counts).
Do you know which LLM is better as regards Corporate Law (specially M&A modules)? LSE or UCL?
Good luck!

Hi guys, Brazil too. I was offered places by UCL and KCL, still waiting for Cambridge. Cambridge definitely is my 1st option, but between UCL and KCL, I am not sure what to do. as far as I know UCL is better than KCL for corporate law, but in Brazil UCL is not very popular... Any news on your decision would be helpful! tks.
