Deferral Cambridge Offer?

Patricia_w

Hi everyone,

I've received a conditional offer from Cambridge last month. However, there's a high possiblity that I cannot enroll Cambridge this year for some reasons. Please don't get me wrong. Cambridge is my dream and I would love to accpet the offer without hesitation..but I maybe can't. So please help me here.

Does anyone know how hard or easy it is to request for a defferal at Cambridge? Have you heard any deferral case from your friends or someone you know?

Do they normally grant deferral? If so, on what grounds? Financial constraints, to take LLM in the US first, family emergengy etc possible?

I would highly appreciate your information, experiences, and kind answers :) Please share...thank you so so much!

I think another LLM in USA should be a legitimate reason.. be elaborate in making out a nice case (like similar fields, gaining comparative exposure)... of course, family emergency would be a great excuse, but, can you convince them in April that its going to occur in September ;)

No, but seriously, pursuing LLM in USA should be an acceptable reason..

Thanks jagsmehn!

Well, that's a good comment there. I have some understanding about deferral in the US, but not the UK. Many universities in the US require the student to withdraw other application, not to defer any other universities and definitely not to attend LLM in the US or UK as well. However, I really have no idea about Cambridge. But you may be true that another LLM in USA should be a legitimate reason since Cambridge is more acadmic in my point of view. So they may view another LLM in the US value-added at some point. :)

Thanks again for you opinion jagsmehn!

Patricia, good luck with your application for deferral. Do inform us of the reasons that might work. Thanks.
