hey

I can only quote the British Council - they say it's 8.500 to 10.000 pounds for one year, but including housing. I guess they might calculate about 90 to 100 pounds per week for housing.

I am currently studying in London. The cost of living depends on the place you are staying and the lifestyle you have. You could easily manage with £10000 if you dont plan to party too much and eat out on a daily basis. I have friends who get by with as little as £100 pounds a month (excluding accomodation). But that is if you plan only to eat food cooked by yourself and you are not travelling anywhere. For me it comes to £700 a month including accomodation, some months it has ran up to £1200 (when I had partied really hard). Also if you are leaving outside central London in Zone 2 or 3. the cost of living will be much cheaper.

I would say you would easily get by with £10000 a month. I would budget it like this:

Acco - 360 to 450 pm
Food- 200 pm
travel- £10 (if you live near the university you will not inccur this)
Books, stationary etc..- £ 50 pm
Socials - £100.

This topic has been discussed several times do a search and you will get lots of opinions and ideas on how to budget your stay.
