Cambridge LLM 2016 - 2017 Applicants

Eppendorf

Hi !

I can't find my school on the application form and therefore sent an email to the GAO but still have no answer... Anyone having the same problem ?

If your school is not in the drop down menu it's not accredited and hence its graduates aren't qualified to apply for the Cambridge LLM.

Thank you Eppendorf but I'm pretty sure it's accredited... I guess I'll have to wait a few more days and call them if nothing happens...

Thank you very much Optimisticgirl,

I have another question if you or anyone can help me.

Concerning the personal statement,or well the questions included in the application. What is the limit (number of characters) ,it is 500 for each of question?

Indeed, can I start fulfilling my application GAO website, save it and continue later? I want to prepare the answers for the questions but like for example i don't have my references yet.

Thank you very much!

Hello, each question has their own word limit as clearly mentioned in the respective instruction. And yes, the application guide also allows us to save the application and resume later.

Btw, I am concerned about the Cambridge Trust 3,100-character essay. It is not clear to me which "question" that we have to answer! Is it about how well we performed academically and why we need financial support ?

If Optimisticgirl or anyone can shed some light on this, I would very appreciate!

Thank you!

If I may, do we have to courier the hard copies of all electronically-submitted documents to Cambridge after submitted online ? Does the referees have to do the same with their reference letters already submitted online?

I am applying for 2016.

I only have a high 2.1 LLB from KCL (I was top 10% of my year group but very narrowly missed a First). Have worked in law related field for a few years since graduating. Anyone managed to get in with a similar background?

Admission will be a close call for you. Cambridge usually asks for a first. You only got a 2:1.

Hmm. Thought I should make a long shot application in any case just so I have no regrets.

For those in the know, how much weight is typically given to references? My academic references can confirm that I was unlucky not to finish with a first class overall.

Anyone who has done the Cambridge LLM and then proceeded to do the Oxford BCL? What are the requirements? Just the law undergraduate degree at first class honours? or do they require a first class on the LLM too?

I'm actually trying to choose... Pembroke sounds lovely though.

I'm not sure which colleges tend to accept LLM students... and I would like to avoid modern ones...

What about you ? And others ?

You gotta be confident in every thing you start ! Being French has nothing to do with that, I'm just positive. Even though I have almost no chances to get into Oxbridge, I just try. You snooty German. ;)

I'm also still trying to choose hahaha, so far maybe I'll go with Wolfson, but it seems too... "modern." Pembroke does sound lovely :)

Hey,
I am an Indian Student with a 9.68 CGPA out of 10 in LLB (I am in the 9th semester right now) from Amity Law School, Amity University Uttar Pradesh.
I am applying for the 2016-2017 LLM course.
I would be obliged if someone can help me with the following doubts:

1. Does it make a difference if my LLB is from a private university and not a government college?
2. Does the college selection make a difference with regards to admission?
3. What college would you suggest from your experience?
4. Are there some colleges where getting an admission is comparatively easier than the others?
5. Anything else that you think is important and I should know.

Thank you for the help :) :)

Hi !

Nikita.Tanwar : apparently your college choices won't affect your admission at all.

Regarding the private/government college I think that as long as it's accredited it doesn't really matter...

I have a question : I'm filling in the application form and saw on several sections "a limit of X characters applies to this field. This includes spaces. You must not add any new lines (i.e. do not press enter"... does it really mean we have to write everything in a single paragraph ?? Can we not, at least, go to a new line ? It seems rather odd... Thank you !
