Hello all,
I'm trying to work out what the schedule is going to be like for classes. Having checked the website, it looks like the General Seminar is taught 2-6 pm on a Monday. How many other classes are there per week, and are many of them 9am? The reason I ask is I am trying to work out whether to commute from London or live in Colchester.
Thanks in advance.

I don't know anything about Essex or Colchester but something really great about an LLM is the bonds created with other students - commuting will prevent you from taking part in social activities so you'll probably find yourself increasingly disconnected from the others - just a soft factor in the equation but a more important one than it may seem on first inspection.

Hi Snoopy,
I completed the LL.M. last year, but from what I remember of the schedule:
Gen Sem is a 4 hour class once a week; then you'll have a 2 hour Gen Sem discussion group (I think it's 2 hours; it might be 1); then you'll have to choose two other classes each term (except the third term). These additional classes are 2 hours each, though sometimes you'll need to a make-up class for an additional 2 hours (each of the professors are actively involved in IHRL/IHL things, so you can't really blame Sir Nigel Rodley when he needs to head to Geneva/NYC).
Most of the classes are not at 9am. In fact, with the exception of the discussion group, none of our classes met before 10.
It's definitely doable to live in London - a few of my classmates did. But, it makes it harder to form long-term relationships with your classmates, which may be important unless you're already settled in your career and you're going back to a job. My classmates - and our out-of-class time - were invaluable and I wouldn't trade that time or those relationships for anything.
